My Story, What will be Yours?

On June 10, 2011 a very good friend of mine called me and told me about Melaleuca, a green company that has all kinds of products. I remember I heard about it before and a tried to get some information. The only information I could find made me think it was one of those MLM companies. Amway, Avon and other similar companies came to my mind and because of that, I never look deeper into it as selling products, collecting bills and delivering products across the city is definitely not my style.

But since it was a friend I knew well, I let her talk and she told me this company is a consumer direct business, where customers order their products directly from the manufacturer, that means that they order directly from Melaleuca, a US company in Idaho Falls.

My Priorities

I have always said that you should plan on doing your priority activities first as they will have the greatest impact on reaching your goals. So as a busy mother of three beautiful children, their success in life is my priority and in order to make that happen I know I have to be with them as much time as I can and teach them the way to stand out of the crowd.

I'm lucky enough to work from home and that allows me to watch them grow and play. I do homework with them, keep track of what they eat and see who they play with. They are my priority and I do all I can to keep their minds bright in a healthy body. I also like to take time to guide them about ways to take care of our planet.

Unfortunately conventional cleaning products are full of many different toxic chemicals that can affect kids more than you know. The companies that make them do not need to list the ingredients. You never really know what you are spraying in your home. One example is the ingredient formaldehyde. Synthetic chemicals to make our common cleaning products seem faster and more effective. As a result, we and our families are exposed to more of these new types of chemicals, our children are smaller and logically more affected by these. More children have neurological problems than ever before such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral problems.

I have vanished harsh chemicals from my house for over 3 years now. In the process I have tried numerous green brands. Sadly most of them won't do the job and the ones that get close to doing it, unfortunately are way out of reach due to the high costs. But still, many of my children problems such as eczema have reduced dramatically. 

The last 4 months I have been trying new products that actually work surprisingly much better than any of the products I have tried (synthetic and natural) even shampoos free of sulfates that leave hair soft and shinny. I have also changed the supplements that my family takes to a multivitamin that absorbs 10 times more and I can see the difference now as my kids are more active, focused and have not been sick even when many friends around them are!!. The candles I use at home are soy based without paraffin, which is very toxic for our respiratory system.

If you make a list of all of the products other than fruits, vegetables and perishables that you buy week after week you will realize that at the end of the month you spend quite a large amount of money in cleaning products, toiletries, beauty products, supplements, vitamins, over the counter medicines, sports drinks, among others. Then you should consider switching all those items to a better brand that has less toxins, is environmentally friendly and creates really effective products.
